Virginia Ann Hayes Emerson, aged 89, of Liberty, Kentucky, went to her heavenly home with Jesus on Sunday, October 18, at Casey County Hospital. She passed away peacefully holding her daughter’s hand.

She was born in Clementsville, Kentucky, on September 9, 1937, to the late Kester and Eula Moxley Hayes. Virginia was one of eight children.

Virginia worked as a seamstress before retiring. She also lovingly sewed clothes for family members and friends, sharing her sewing talents with those around her.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Robin Emerson, of Lexington, and her two sisters, Lola Sue Henson (David) and Sharlene Blevins, both of Liberty. She also leaves behind many dear friends and family members, including her beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Anita Stafford and Catherine (Nell) Herren, and three brothers, Talmadge Odell Hayes, David (Denny) Hayes, and John Hayes.

Virginia was a devoted Christian who loved people unconditionally and dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, gardening, sewing and crocheting, and quilting with her sister Nell. Virginia loved cooking and baking for her family and neighbors; she was known for her biscuits, chocolate gravy, pies, and fudge. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing with her sister Sue. In her younger years, she enjoyed exploring her talent for drawing.

Virginia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday October 21st, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday  October 22nd, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Russell Schaffer and Bro. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Creston.

Pallbearers: Her nephews, Stanley Hayes, Paul Blevins, Nick Hayes, and Derrieck Hayes, and her great-nephews, Jesse Brown and Clint Brown.

Honorary Pallbearer: Her great-great-nephew Jaxson Bryant.
